During pregnancy, ensure that the expecting mother gets the correct diet at the correct time. Give her an extra portion of food, about one quarter more than usual.
The purpose of this video is to encourage the community to take action to prevent malnutrition. It explains simple things one can do to prevent malnutrition.
It is intended for the community at large.
A pregnant woman is serving food to her husband and brother in law. She has served them generous portions. When she starts to give some more to her brother in law he says "That's enough sister. If you give me all the vegetables, then what will you have?" She smiles and replies "Don't worry, I've got some left over pickle for myself."
The brother in law replies "Well, well. You are indeed a "Goddess of Renunciation. I know a doctor who specializes in children with mental weaknesses, I'll introduce you to him." She replies angrily "Why should we go to him?" He tells her "If you don't maintain a healthy diet, then the child you are expecting won't get a proper diet too. Then there will be malnutrition, meaning physical and mental weakness. The woman looks down sadly. "So, will you have food now or should we visit the doctor?"
Listening to the whole conversation, her husband picks up a bowl of vegetables and gives it to her.
Yes, during pregnancy, ensure that the expecting mother gets the correct diet at the correct time. Give her an extra portion of food, about one quarter more than usual.
And don't forget those four important things.
One - Correct diet for the expecting mother
Two - Mother's first milk is the best
Three - Only breast milk for the first six months
Four - After that, balance mother's milk with a nutritious diet
So, remember the four things. Say yes to all of them and say "Malnutrition, Quit India".
Malnutrition is a lack of the right nutrients in the body.
A child is specially prone to the dangers of malnutrition from the time of its conception till two years of age. This is a very important period for overall long-term growth.
Malnutrition in India
Malnutrition in children and women remains as one of the greatest challenges in India. Malnutrition remains a major threat to the survival, growth and development of children.
Today, nearly every second child in India is a victim of malnutrition.
It means they are physically and mentally weak due to which they are targets to many ailments, deformities, disabilities and allergies affecting normal growth mentally and physically. So we should jointly wage a war against malnutrition!
